Welcome! I’m Alison, a Registered Dietitian & Sports Nutritionist in Owen Sound. For my first post I wanted to touch on what this nutrition blog will be about and share why I’m passionate about helping people understand nutrition and how this can help them achieve their goals.


Blog: I plan Blog Bites to be on the shorter side of typical blog posts. I find when I read blogs, I quickly scan the post until I find the part that caught my attention and never actually read the entire post… Oops!


These posts will cover anything from meal and snack recipes (with food pictures, of course) to sports nutrition to product reviews, to helpful practical habits and bits on developing your mindset. Please comment below if you have any blog requests!


Private Practice: For the past 3 years I have been working as a Registered Dietitian in Long Term Care. Much of the work I do there is related to comfort care and maximizing quality of life while managing end stage diseases and conditions. End of life care is extremely important and has given me an appreciation for the importance of prevention and management of your health right now.


Ever since I knew I wanted to be a dietitian (grade 7), I have always wanted to have my own private practice. I love working one-on-one with people to show them that eating healthy does not mean following the same meal plan every day or that healthy food tastes bad. Good nutrition is unique to everyone and just because one piece of nutrition advice worked for one person, does not mean it will work for you.
